More than measuring the lawn

What we'll look at

Lawn area is only one part of choosing a robotic mower. The layout and installation conditions often determine which system will perform best.

01

Lawn size & layout

We look at the total mowing area, shape of the lawn and whether one or several working areas are required.

02

Slopes & terrain

Gradient, uneven ground and traction requirements can make a major difference to the right mower.

03

Trees & buildings

We consider anything that may affect satellite reception, mower navigation or the installation method.

04

Paths & passages

Narrow connections and routes between lawns are important when planning how the mower will move around the property.

05

Obstacles & stay-outs

Beds, ponds, play areas and other features can affect how the mowing areas should be mapped.

06

Wireless suitability

We consider whether GPS, RTK or EPOS makes sense, or whether a traditional boundary-wire system is the better solution.

Before you book

A few common questions

You don't need to know exactly which mower you want before booking. The whole point of the assessment is to help work that out.

Is the robot mower lawn assessment really free?
Yes. There is no charge for the assessment and no obligation to buy a mower afterwards. The aim is to establish what will actually work for the garden before you make a decision.
Which areas do you visit?
Our main installation and assessment area covers GL, BS, NP, HR, BA and SN postcodes and surrounding areas. If you're unsure whether we cover your location, you can choose a phone call with an installer first.
Do I need to know the exact size of my lawn?
No. An approximate size is useful, but lawn capacity is only one part of choosing a mower. Layout, slopes, passages, separate areas, trees and buildings can be just as important.
Can one robotic mower manage several separate lawns?
Often, yes. Depending on the mower and garden layout, separate mowing areas can sometimes be linked using transport paths or other installation methods. This is one of the things we can assess for you.
What if my garden has lots of trees or poor satellite reception?
Wireless isn't automatically the right solution for every garden. We can look at whether GPS, RTK or EPOS is suitable, whether vision assistance will help, or whether a traditional boundary-wire installation would be more reliable.
Do I have to buy a mower after the assessment?
No. We'll explain which machines and installation methods we think suit the garden and provide the relevant costs, but there is no obligation to proceed.
Can I speak to someone before arranging a site visit?
Yes. Choose the phone-call option when booking and you can speak to an installer first. For many straightforward gardens, a conversation is enough to narrow down the best options.
